Let’s go on an adventure

There’s nothing quite like an insider’s view of a region. Robert and Jane Grieve of the Country Pathfinder Motor Inn and Australian Country Tours, having grown up locally, are more than qualified to provide your tour group with an unforgettable insight into country living. Dalby is central to a diverse, fascinating and beautiful region – the Western Darling Downs on the edge of the Outback. To the east and south are the vast, rich blacksoil plains, world-famous for their productivity, blanketed in an ever-changing kaleidoscope of multi-coloured seasonal crops.

To the north are rolling hills with cattle and grain farms, leading through the gorgeous town of Bell atop its sub-tropical hillside and eventually, just an hour away from Dalby, the fabulous Bunya Mountains clothed in rainforest and Bunya trees (a genus 400 million old, on which dinosaurs once fed). There you can taste the famed Bunya nuts cooked into a variety of delicious baked goods, and walk amongst forest giants and history. Then to the west is the bush, stretching seemingly forever to the heart of the Australian continent.

Tailored according to your interests by your hosts Robert and Jane of AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY TOURS, your group’s tour of the magnificent Western Darling Downs will be as general (with a selection of tour options) or as specific (for special interest groups) as you wish. Meet a farmer, explore the farm, taste fabulous country cooking as guests in the homestead. Enjoy a bbq under a huge, star-studded sky. Visit a country pub, or swirl around the dance floor at a local country dance.

Experience the vivid patchwork of crops on the famous blacksoil plains; dip into gracious living at Jimbour House; walk where Aboriginals once gathered in the ancient Bunya Mountains. Watch kangaroos play as the outback sun sets behind an idyllic Australian bush setting. Breathe the clean air of the countryside the locals love, and know why they wouldn’t live anywhere else. So close (under 3 hours from Brisbane, 40 minutes from Brisbane West - Wellcamp airport), yet a lifestyle away, a totally different Australia waits to amaze you!
